Businessmen Berezkin, Akhmedov and Shulgin came under sanctions in April 2022. The EU COURT previously ruled to lift restrictive measures against Shulgin

The European Union has decided not to extend sanctions against billionaire, former member of the Federation Council Farkhad Akhmedov, owner of the ESN group Grigory Berezkin and former CEO of online retailer Ozon Alexander Shulgin, REUTERS writes, citing two diplomatic sources.

The European Court of General Jurisdiction previously decided to lift sanctions from Shulgin . This was the first such decision regarding a Russian entrepreneur since the spring of 2022, when Brussels began to introduce restrictive measures against major businessmen from RUSSIA. The court decision was made on September 6, it will come into force in two months and 10 days, or if an appeal is filed and rejected.

To impose EU sanctions, a unanimous decision of all member countries is required; the extension of restrictive measures occurs every six months, the next one is expected on September 15, the agency notes.

Shulgin, Berezkin and Akhmedov fell under EU sanctions in April 2022.

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called the introduction of sanctions against businessmen for meeting with Vladimir Putin “banditry.” The HEAD of state considered the idea of Western countries to use frozen assets in the United States and Europe to help Ukraine “theft .”
