The White House has warned chipmakers about new restrictions on exports to Russia in the event of its "attack" on Ukraine, Reuters reports citing sources.
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) sent a request to the White House National Security Council to see if it would be possible to expand export restrictions. In a telephone conversation, SNB spokesmen Peter Harell and Tarun Chhabra said the administration was considering any options for sanctions in the event of an "invasion."
In such a situation, the association's employees in Moscow should be prepared to stop exports to Russia, their IT security should be checked, said one of the participants in the SIA conference on this issue.
The export ban could have a major impact on global supply chains, warned SIA public relations spokesman Jimmy Goodrich.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to confirm this information to the publication. However, she noted that the United States is ready for any tough sanctions against Russia.
