Putin announced the overcoming of the economic downturn after the crisis due to COVID

RUSSIA has overcome the economic downturn caused by the CORONAVIRUS pandemic, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on economic issues. His words are quoted on the Kremlin website.

He noted that according to the results of seven months of this year, GDP returned to the pre-crisis level.

“The recession caused by the coronavirus epidemic has been completely overcome. Industrial growth in January-July amounted to 4.4%, while manufacturing demonstrate higher rates - plus 5.6%. The positive mood of business and investors shows the volume of investments in fixed capital: in the first half of the year it added 7.3% compared to last year's figures," Putin said.

In general, it was possible to cope with the task to ensure employment of the population not lower than the level of 2019 by the end of the year, the HEAD of state said. In July, this bar was overcome, when the working population reached 72 million people.
