Some foreign companies refuse to fulfill their obligations to provide the Arctic with the necessary products, so RUSSIA must restructure work in this vein, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the development of the Arctic zone, the Kremlin press service reports.
“You know that now, as a result of the actions of unfriendly countries, a number of transport logistics chains have been disrupted. Some foreign companies do not fully or do not fulfill their contractual obligations,” he said.
The Security Council announced US attempts to challenge Russia's rights in the Arctic Politics
The head of state noted that, despite the difficulties that have arisen, Russia has all the capabilities and resources “to quickly find alternative solutions, and in the long term to further strengthen our independence from external factors.”
The departments working in the Arctic must competently and promptly reorganize their work in the region so that local residents and shift workers, as well as social facilities and enterprises can receive the necessary food and medicine, fuel, building materials and equipment, the president said. This is especially important, given that the period of northern delivery should begin very soon, he stressed.
Northern delivery is the delivery of medicines, food and fuel to hard-to-reach regions and individual settlements that remain cut off from the rest of the country in winter due to difficult climatic conditions.

Among them are the largest maritime transport companies Mediterranean Shipping Co. and Maersk.
In early March, Maersk announced that it would suspend the delivery of goods to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk and Kaliningrad and transportation from these cities, regardless of the destination of the cargo. An exception was made only for humanitarian cargo and supplies of food and medicine, if they need to be delivered to the ports of the Far East.
Since March 1, the Swiss MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has limited all shipments to and from Russia for "all access areas, including the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Russian Far East." A fragment of the company's statement was quoted by CNN.
