Putin appreciated the failure of the "economic blitzkrieg" of the West in the words of Mark Twain Vladimir Putin

The economic "blitzkrieg" of the West against RUSSIA did not work out, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, quoting the phrase of the American writer Mark Twain.

“The fact that they tried to carry out such a blitzkrieg against our economy is clear that it did not work out. As Mark Twain said, “The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” he said.

Putin added that, “no matter how much pressure from the outside”, it is impossible to cancel a country with such a volume of foreign trade as Russia has.

The Russian President also pointed out that the United States had previously imposed sanctions on fertilizers and then lifted them, while there were no restrictions on food at all. “Everyone wants to eat, the whole world. So what are the sanctions? he stressed.

Back in mid-April, Putin noted that the sanctions "blitzkrieg" of Western countries against Russia had failed. “The blitzkrieg that our ill-wishers counted on, of course, did not take place, this is obvious. Our financial system and industry are working rhythmically,” the Russian leader said.

The President of Russia at SPIEF also listed six main principles of Russia's new economic policy:

Putin considered that now the country needs to strive to create a "holistic system of economic development" that will not depend on Western technologies.
