Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his speech at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, spoke about the opinion of businessmen who previously believed that it was more reliable to store assets abroad. The broadcast was hosted by RBC.

“You know, I, well, we have known many people here for many years, I often heard: well, it’s more reliable there. And now?" the president said.

Speaking to business, Putin said that "the basis of our existence" and "the future of our families and children" are connected with Russia. “And only with this understanding, business will bring satisfaction, a person will be able to fully realize himself,” he believes.

A responsible Russian entrepreneur is a citizen who understands and acts in the interests of Russia, does not hide assets offshore, registers companies in Russian jurisdiction and does not become dependent on foreign authorities, the head of state added.

The high mission of the entrepreneur, according to him, is aimed not only at making profit, but also for the public good. “And instead of working offshore and withdrawing the funds received here for things, let’s say, not essential things, special programs are being launched to support employees and their families, along with the regional authorities, funds are directed to roads, hospitals, sports and cultural facilities, in a word, they do life is better for everyone around,” the president said.

The state, Putin said, will support responsible business in every possible way: “Those who are ready to fight both for their business and for the well-being of their teams.”

In a February address to the Federal Assembly, Putin said that the image of the West as a safe haven and a haven for capital "turned out to be a ghost, a fake." According to him, those who did not understand this and considered Russia as a source of income, lost a lot. “They were simply robbed there, even legally earned money was taken away,” the head of state said.

Putin also expressed the opinion that none of the ordinary citizens regretted those who lost their capital in foreign banks and lost their yachts and palaces.

After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the US and the EU imposed several packages of sanctions against Russia. They affected major Russian entrepreneurs and top managers of domestic companies. After that, the property of Russians from the sanctions lists, including accounts, real estate, yachts and planes, began to be detained and arrested.
