The United States will impose new sanctions against RUSSIA on Wednesday, April 6, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing. The new restrictions will affect financial institutions, officials, as well as a ban on new investments in Russia.
“It can be expected <...> that they (sanctions.) will affect Russian government officials, their family members, Russian financial institutions, state-owned enterprises,” the administration representative listed.
According to her, the United States is trying to ensure that Russia faces a choice: default or use its remaining foreign exchange reserves.
“This will include a ban on all new investment in Russia,” Psaki added, noting that the decision was made after discussions with EU and G7 partners.
