The new government of Kazakhstan must bring the country out of the crisis and repair the damage caused during the unrest. This was stated by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, who was appointed to this position the day before. On January 12, he spoke for the first time before the new composition of the Cabinet.
The ministers should “make every effort to fulfill the tasks set by the president aimed at improving the quality of life of the population, maintain economic growth and resist the pandemic, restore the huge damage caused by terrorists and marauders, and lead the country out of a large-scale crisis,” Smailov said (quoted by Tengrinews).
According to him, these are "very complex tasks, which in the current conditions have not yet fallen to any government."
