According to the Prime Minister of Belarus, Minsk hopes that "hot heads will cool down." New sanctionsmay entail the replacement of Western technologies with Russian and Asian ones, as well as the introduction of measures to protect the market Roman Golovchenko

Belarus has prepared a set of measures in response to Western sanctions, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA informs.

“We still hope that the heated heads will cool down and weigh, among other things, the interests of their business in Belarus,” he said.

According to him, the leitmotif of all statements by President Alexander Lukashenko on international platforms has always been the desire for peace and tranquility in the region, as well as building equal partnerships. “We did everything for this. But if we are talking about damage to our companies, we have every right to compensate for this damage. A set of measures in response to the sanctions is ready,” Golovchenko says.

The prime minister warned that a large number of foreign enterprises operate in Belarus, which could lose the local market. Minsk will have to move away from Western goods and technologies, he added, noting that the authorities know how to replace them.

“The technology gap is now minimal. We are ready to switch, among other things, to Asian technologies, which have been advancing by leaps and bounds over the past few decades. According to preliminary estimates, one China can replace 90% of European and American technologies. Plus, Russian technologies are being actively developed,” Golovchenko said.
