European Union countries will continue to put pressure on RUSSIA, European Council President António Costa stated on social media.
He spoke about a phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy immediately after a video conference with members of the European Council.
"I stressed the EU's unity and continued support for Ukraine, as well as our commitment to maintaining pressure on Russia," Costa wrote.
On August 14, European Commission spokesperson Ariana Podesta stated that the European Union plans to adopt the 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions in September, and called reports of a possible easing of pressure on Russia "pure speculation."
Moscow considers Western sanctions illegal and ineffective. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said the economy is operating "under a huge number of restrictions" and has already developed "a certain immunity" to them.
