Russia's permanent representative to the EU doubted the introduction of the seventh package of sanctions

According to Chizhov, Europeans are already seeing the consequences of anti-Russian sanctions, which are expressed in rising inflation and other economic problems. Therefore, according to him,

it is at least premature to talk about the seventh package of anti-Russian sanctions from the European Union. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Russia's Permanent Representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

“As for the sanctions against RUSSIA, they literally fired the first few packages. The fifth - already with some difficulty <...> When adopting the sixth package, they tried to touch on the topic of the oil embargo - it turned out with a fairly noticeable exception. Now everyone, including your colleagues, is starting to talk about the seventh package. Well, this is, at least, premature, ”said the permanent representative.

According to him, already “even the blind see” what economic problems Europe faced after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. “The situation is quite serious. Inflation in the Eurozone reached 8.1%. This has not happened since the creation of the euro zone,” Chizhov stressed.

He also said that despite what is happening, the normalization of relations with the European Union is still possible. “Not all bridges have been burned. But the majority. Let's see what will happen next. In any case, there will be no return to business as usual, this cannot be. We understand it, and they understand it. This means that this will be a new system of relationships that has yet to be created,” the diplomat concluded.
