The ambassador said about the business damage to the United States due to sanctions against Russia

US sanctions against RUSSIA will not affect Moscow's position, but will damage Washington's business reputation, said Anatoly Antonov, Russian ambassador to the United States. His statement was published on the TELEGRAM channel of the Russian diplomatic mission in the United States.

“Washington’s convulsive attempts to ‘punish’ Russia only confirm the impotence of local authorities to force our country to abandon the protection of vital national interests,” he said, commenting on the sanctions imposed against the Yunarmiya patriotic movement.

Antonov also criticized the restrictions against Rusatom Overseas, the main shareholder of which is Atomenergoprom JSC, owned by Rosatom State Corporation. According to him, in this way the United States "trampled the principles of the functioning of energy markets" and the rules of fair competition on foreign sites.

On April 12, the United States imposed sanctions on a number of Russian individuals and legal entities associated, according to the US Treasury, with businessman Alisher Usmanov. The latter has been under US sanctions since last year.

The restrictions affected, among other things, the USM holding founded by entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov, the Metalloinvest enterprise and the MegaFon operator.

The US Department of Commerce, in addition to the sanctions of the US Department of the Treasury, has imposed EXPORT restrictions against ten Russian companies and a number of foreign enterprises, which, according to the department, have ties with Russia.

Moscow criticizes the imposition of sanctions. Antonov said that in this way the United States is trying to retain its elusive geo-economic dominance and singles out any countries that disagree with them, including Russia, to the role of "raw material appendages".
