Poland imposes sanctions on the Torgservis Group of Companies (manages the Svetofor chain of stores) and its shareholders - brothers Sergei and Andrey Schneider, the press service of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The department explained this decision by the fact that the Torgservice Group of Companies "has financial and economic resources" that "indirectly support" the military operation in Ukraine.

The restrictions include the blocking of assets, a ban on doing business and any transactions, as well as staying in Poland.

As noted in the department, the Torgservis Group of Companies manages a network of MyPrice stores (former Mere, which were closed after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, but returned to the Polish market under a new name). Sergey Schneider is the owner of more than 24 thousand shares Torgservis.PL worth 10.1 million zlotys (239.8 million rubles), Andrey is the owner of 4.6 thousand shares worth 2.1 million zlotys (45.5 million rubles), both are under sanctions from Ukraine due to participation in the shares of "numerous companies operating in the Russian Federation," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

"The measures taken are the result of constant monitoring carried out to identify actions that violate the rules regarding sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation and Belarus . These actions not only hinder the disclosed procedures for circumventing sanctions, but also have the effect of protecting the Polish and European markets," the ministry concluded.

RBC asked MyPrice for comment.

Torgservice Group of Companies was founded in 2009 by the Schneider family. Brothers Sergey and Andrey, as well as their parents Ivan and Valentina, own shares in dozens of legal entities that are engaged in the development of the retailer. In 2021, they were included in the FORBES ratingas the richest businessmen in RUSSIA. The publication estimated the family's fortune at $650 million, and now Sergei Schneider's fortune has reached $1.4 billion.

In 85 regions of Russia, there are about 2.7 thousand Svetofor stores - hard discounters with savings on everything. In recent months, they have been massively inspected by employees of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR and Rospotrebnadzor due to gross violations of the requirements of technical regulations and veterinary legislation.

The Russian authorities consider the sanctions of Western countries illegal and insist on their abolition.
