In the matter of the lifting of sanctions against RUSSIA by the US authorities , it is necessary to be guided by official reports, the president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The journalist asked Peskov about reports from the United States about the possibility of lifting anti-Russian sanctions. Thus, REUTERS , citing an American official and another source, reported that the United States is developing a plan to soften anti-Russian sanctions.
"There is a huge number of reports now. One is more fantastic than the other. There is an absolute cacophony of information. Everything should be recorded, but we should only focus on reports from official sources, on official statements. No one has made such statements," the press secretary said.
According to Reuters, the administration of US President Donald Trump has instructed the State Department and the Treasury Department to prepare a list of sanctions that could be relaxed in order to discuss this with Russian representatives as part of talks on normalizing diplomatic and economic relations.
Peskov had previously noted that it was premature to discuss this topic, since there had been no official statements. He also recalled that the Kremlin considers American sanctions against Russia illegal.
