
The State Duma of the new convocation may introduce punishment for requests to foreign governments to impose sanctions against Russian officials and entrepreneurs, said the press secretary of the President of RUSSIA Dmitry Peskov. He said this in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin”, a fragment was published by host Vladimir Solovyov in TELEGRAM.
“Until now, no steps have been taken (to declare calls for sanctions illegal. But, on the other hand, there will be a new Duma very soon. Let’s see what moods prevail there,” the representative of the HEAD of state said.
Peskov explained that the requests of some Russian citizens to foreign states to impose sanctions were heard more than once. Including, he clarified, requests came from people serving sentences.
Solovyov clarified with Peskov whether the Russian authorities would have to respond “hardly” if new sanctions were adopted. “We will have to respond wisely,” the presidential spokesman said.
Four days ago, on September 22, the US House Rules Committee adopted an amendment to the country's defense budget for the next fiscal year - in the US it is counted from October 1. The document provides for the introduction of personal sanctions against 35 Russian citizens, including Peskov himself, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, businessman Roman Abramovich, as well as other politicians, officials and entrepreneurs.
