This year has passed for RUSSIA under the sign of “sanctions from hell”; the country has become a record holder for the number of restrictions imposed against it. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk during a speech at the opening session of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Samarkand.
“This whole year has passed under the sign of sanctions from hell, which were aimed at destroying the Russian economy. Our country has become the world record holder for sanctions, leaving Iran and North Korea far behind. They probably envy us,” said Overchuk ( quoted from RIA Novosti).
In his opinion, Western sanctions have become an incentive for the development of the Russian economy. “Under the conditions of sanctions, our economy has learned not just to survive, not just learned to live, we have learned to develop,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
After the start of the military operation in Ukraine , sanctions against Russia were imposed by the United States , the European Union, Great Britain , Japan , Australia and other countries. In particular, on November 2, Washington introduced restrictions against AFK Sistema, Arctic LNG-2, Russian Standard Bank, Home Credit Bank, Post Bank, Gazprom Neft structures, MSTU. N.E. Bauman and 12 companies that, according to US authorities, support the Russian armed forces.
At the end of October, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov , said that Russia was not afraid of the prospect of maintaining sanctions for another five to ten years. “Russia has been living in this regime for decades and has adapted sufficiently; such time horizons do not scare us,” he said, admitting that “attempts to contain our economy will continue.”
