Netflix users can once again pay for a subscription to the service using cards from Russian banks. RBC employees drew attention to this. Payment is made even with a VTB card included in the US SDN sanctions list.

RBC asked the Netflix press service for a comment.

On February 28, the portal vc.ru drew attention to the fact that Netflix users are facing problems when trying to pay for a monthly subscription. The publication then reported that vc.ru editors could not register on the service using Tinkoff and Alfa-Bank cards.

The Tinkoff press service noted that the problem with Netflix arises on the side of the acquiring bank, which is included in the sanctions list. Alfa-Bank made a similar commentary on the situation.

The banks of the VTB group, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank and Otkritie fell under the most stringent Western sanctions . Payment by cards of these banks in foreign online stores is not possible. Sanctions were imposed on correspondent and payment accounts against Sberbank.
