The German Green Party, which has so far opposed the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project, considers new US sanctions on the pipeline unacceptable. This was stated by the representative of the party for foreign policy, a member of the foreign affairs committee and the defense committee of the Bundestag, Omid Nuripur, reports DW.
“The new US sanctions are unacceptable even for the opponents of Nord Stream 2 <...> It is we, the Greens, who have always fought against the pipeline, who cannot understand what kind of friendship [the US] is striving for and under which friends (Germany and companies working with it) are subject to sanctions when they do business with a third party,” he said.
According to him, the gas pipeline was and remains "the wrong German decision, but not the American one."
The State Department promised to continue to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2 Politics
On November 22, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the imposition of sanctions against Transadria Ltd and two other vessels that are related to the construction of Nord Stream 2. US authorities call Transadria a shell Russian company registered in Cyprus, Bloomberg reported.
