The governments of RUSSIA and Belarus will have to develop a plan to counter sanctions from Western countries, said the press secretary of the Belarusian president, Natalya Eismont, in an interview with the Mir TV channel. The decision was made following a meeting between the HEAD of Belarus ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO and Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg .

“Governments have been instructed to develop and adopt that same joint plan to counter sanctions,” Eismont said.

According to her, the meeting of the heads of the two states was scheduled for July 1 in a telephone conversation. In addition, Lukashenka sent a letter to Putin, which dealt with the economy, finances and opposition to Western sanctions.

During the meeting in St. Petersburg, the parties discussed the removal of barriers to the participation of Belarusian companies in public procurement in Russia. According to Eismont, a decision was also made to support Belarusian banks.
