The Ministry of Agriculture called the rise in food prices before the New Year traditional

An increase in food prices in RUSSIA before the New Year holidays is traditionally observed, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture told RBC.

The department explained that this is due to an increase in demand for food . The Ministry of Agriculture added that they do not expect a significant increase in prices before the holidays.

Commenting on the possible rise in price of beef, the department said that the retail price for this MEAT increased within the limits of general inflation - by 6.7%. The increase in production contributes to a stable price situation in this market, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. According to Rosstat, in January-October, the production of cattle for slaughter increased by 7.6% - to 890.9 thousand tons.

Earlier, the General DIRECTOR of the National Union of Beef Producers , Roman Kostyuk, said that beef prices would increase by at least 7-10% by the New Year holidays. According to him, this will be a traditional pre-holiday price increase.
