German drivers need to drive slower on the autobahns to save energy and reduce dependence on Russia. This proposal was made by the Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Cem Ozdemir, reports WAZ.

According to the federal minister, it is not necessary to drive fast on motorways, everyone can choose a more economical option for traveling at low speeds. “I note that currently there is no majority in the coalition advocating a speed limit of 130 km/h [on autobahns]. But, fortunately, everyone has the freedom to travel more slowly on the freeway,” he said.

Ozdemir noted that given the high energy prices and strong dependence on Russia, he can only advise all Germans to save energy by any means. He also recommended not to use cars if possible, but to ride a bicycle, bus or train.

In Germany, proposed a way to save "every drop of gasoline" Economics

On March 20, the head of the Association of German Trade Unions, Rainer Hoffmann, proposed to introduce a temporary speed limit on German roads to save energy consumption - up to 100 km / h on highways and up to 30 km / h in cities. “We need to save every drop of gasoline that we can save,” he stressed.

At the same time, Hoffman acknowledged that this would not solve the overall problem of rising energy prices. According to him, energy security can be achieved primarily through the expansion of the network of renewable sources. In addition, Hoffman believes, a number of measures should be taken in the social sphere in order to reduce the burden on the population.
