The Israeli Ministry of Finance is looking for ways to enable immigrants from RUSSIA to transfer money to Israel from their accounts in Russian banks, Israeli Calcalist and REUTERS write, citing a senior source in the department.

About 57 thousand immigrants from the countries of the former USSR live in the country, who receive pensions in Russia, but cannot use their funds in Israel. There are also Israeli citizens who keep part of their money in accounts in Russia.

“There are citizens who are not under sanctions who ... are trying to transfer their money from there to Israel through financial institutions operating in Russia and not under sanctions, but experiencing difficulties due to the refusal of Israeli banks to approve transfers,” the agency source said.

The agency indicates that on July 19, Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman will hold talks with representatives of the Bank of Israel "on the transfer of funds from Russia to innocent citizens living in Israel."
