Foreign Ministry bans 41 Australians from entering Russia

The sanctions list includes journalists from the ABC agency, Sky News and The Australian newspaper, writer Andrew Urban,a number of university employees and defense contractors

The Russian Foreign Ministry has imposed sanctions prohibiting the entry of 41 Australians into the country, follows from a statement published by the department.

“In response to politically motivated sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities by the Australian government, introduced as part of the Russophobic campaign of the “collective West”, entry into our country is closed on an indefinite basis for an additional 41 Australians from among the military-industrial complex contractors, journalists and municipal deputies who are shaping the anti-Russian agenda in this country,” the statement said.

The restrictions also affected representatives of the education sector. David Brewster, a senior fellow at the National Security College and the Australian National University, Dominic Fraser, a fellow at the Asia Society Political Institute, Juletta McIntyre, a professor at the University of South Australia, Donald Rothwell, a professor at the College of Law and the Australian National University, and an assistant professor at Curtin University, Joseph Syracuse, will not be able to enter RUSSIA.

In addition, representatives of companies involved in the defense business fell under the sanctions. The restrictions affected employees of the company Droneshield, which produces systems based on artificial intelligence to protect against drones. The list includes Oleg Vornik, CEO, Angus Bean, Chief Technology Officer, Hadley Boyd-Moss, Vice President and HEAD of Development, and Red McClintock, Business Development Manager.

Representatives of other military-industrial enterprises also fell under Russian sanctions: Vice President, DIRECTOR of Thales Australia Gary Dawson, Executive Director of the company Chris Jenkins, Chairman of the Board of Directors Belinda Hutchinson, Chief Operating Officer Philip Chemoret, Chief Technology Officer John Best. In addition, the list included the executive director of one of the defense contractors BAE Systems Australia, Ben Nadson.

The list of the Russian diplomatic service also includes members of the municipal council of Wollara district in Sydney, Louise Elsing, Matthew Robertson.
