RUSSIA, in response to the 12th package of EU sanctions , has expanded the list of EU representatives who are prohibited from entering the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

We are talking about representatives of law enforcement agencies; companies providing military assistance to Ukraine; “European structures involved in the prosecution of Russian officials for “illegal arrests and removal of people from Ukrainian territories,” “engaged in the creation of a “tribunal” against the Russian leadership.”

The list also included those who support the confiscation of Russian assets and sanctions , who are trying to “undermine Russia’s relations with other states,” as well as PACE deputies who supported the resolution calling to recognize Vladimir Putin as an illegitimate president (the Foreign Ministry called it insignificant and without legal force) .

The ministry did not specify the names of those banned from entering.

The EU approved the 12th package of sanctions against Russia on December 18. It included restrictions on the import of non-industrial diamonds that were produced or processed in Russia. In addition, the EXPORT to Russia of chemicals, lithium batteries, thermostats, DC motors and servo motors for drones, as well as the import of cast iron, copper and aluminum wire are prohibited. The EU also obliged member countries to notify the sale of tankers to any third country.

In addition, Brussels included 29 legal entities in the sanctions list for “direct support of the Russian military-industrial complex.” Individuals also fell under the sanctions, including the son of Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev Ilya, Speaker of the Moscow City Duma Alexey Shaposhnikov, as well as the heads of the Altai Republic Oleg Khorokhordin and Bashkiria Radiy Khabirov.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov assured that Moscow is implementing options to circumvent EU sanctions on diamonds in order to protect its interests. When asked by journalists whether there are ways to circumvent the restrictions and whether Russia will implement them, he replied: “Absolutely.”

In his opinion, the 12th package of EU anti-Russian sanctions indicates that “the resource of those areas where sanctions can be introduced is probably already exhausted.”
