The next, 11th, package of EU anti-Russian sanctions should be agreed by the end of June, when the EU summit will take place . This was stated by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna at the Council of Foreign Ministers in Brussels.
“We expect to finalize it as soon as possible, before the end of June - before the EU summit,” she said (the statement was posted on her Twitter page).
According to Colonna, the package is still being discussed, including technical and legal aspects. It will be considered again by the permanent representatives on 24 May.
In early May, the HEAD of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that a new package of European sanctions would focus on circumventing previously imposed restrictions.
BLOOMBERG reported that new sanctions could affect the transit of a wide range of goods to third countries through Russia. DPA wrote that the EC wants to get a mechanism that will allow blocking the EXPORT of goods to third countries in order to prevent Moscow from evading sanctions.
The EU countries also discussed the possibility of stopping oil supplies from Russia via the northern branch of the Druzhba pipeline for all countries.
