Lukashenka called on neighboring countries to deal with "mad" politicians Alexander Lukashenko

President of Belarus ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO called on the peoples of the countries bordering the republic to deal with the "mad" politicians who decide on sanctions against MINSK. He announced this during a ceremony dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, broadcast by the Belarus-1 TV channel.

“I appeal first of all to the peoples of our neighboring countries – Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Ukrainians: wake up before it’s too late, deal with these politicians who are distraught and have lost reality,” he said.

Lukashenka specified that today, "like 80 years ago", the region is on the verge of a global conflict. According to him, Belarus has always had peace with its neighbors, and countries need to stop "at this last line." “Sanctions, provocations. <...> One would like to ask: are you doing this on purpose, do you want to test the borders for strength, and the new generation of Belarusians for patriotism? Let's try," the president said.

Lukashenko also added that the country has long been in a state of war. “We have been at war for a long time. It’s just that the war has taken on other forms,” he said.

On June 21, the European Union adopted the fourth package of sanctions against Belarus. Eight legal entities and 78 individuals fell under them, mostly Belarusian citizens, but there are also Russians among them, in particular Russian businessman Mikhail Gutseriev. On the same day, the US , CANADA, and the UK expanded the sanctions lists against the country. The United States, in particular, extended sanctions to the Belarusian KGB, internal troops, the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee and the detention center at Akrestsina.

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, in turn, said that new sanctions would not go unanswered. “We warned that sanctions would not go unanswered. Now the relevant service is studying the text of sanctions against our citizens and enterprises. We choose the most appropriate response measures from the set that we have developed,” he said.

Thus, new sanctions are being introduced due to the situation with the forced landing of a Ryanair aircraft and the detention of Roman Protasevich, the founder of the TELEGRAM channel Nexta, which is opposed to the Lukashenka regime, on May 23 this year.
