London imposes sanctions against Kadyrov's mother

London has added Aimani, the mother of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation to its sanctions list. The updated list has been published on the British government's website.

The assets of those targeted in the UK are subject to freezing and those on the list are also banned from entering the country.

Explaining the reason for including Aimani Kadyrova on the list, the British government said she was an “engaged person” because she “is or was involved in the destabilisation of Ukraine” by supporting “the Russian government’s programme for the military-patriotic re-education of Ukrainian children” as president of the Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation.
