Lavrov called the ban on entry of Russian cars into the EU Nazism

Sergey Lavrov

The ban on the entry of cars with Russian license plates into the EU is a manifestation of Nazism. This was stated following a meeting of the Valdai discussion club by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports .

“This is a manifestation of what is commonly called Nazism. In relation to Russians only,” Lavrov said.

On September 8, the European Commission published clarifications on the rules for applying anti-Russian sanctions. According to the document, entry into the EU countries using personal cars registered in RUSSIA will be regarded as prohibited import . However, the clarifications are not legally binding, and each European country can decide for itself how to implement the sanctions .

Restrictions on the entry of cars with Russian license plates were introduced by five EU countries with which Russia has a land border (Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Lithuania and Poland ), as well as Germany , Bulgaria and Norway, which are part of the Schengen agreement.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the decisions of EU countries to ban the entry of cars with Russian license plates absurd. According to him, Russia will respond from the position of its own benefit.
