The Kremlin promised to respond to the ban on allowing Russian cars into the EU

The decisions of the European Union countries to ban the entry of cars with Russian license plates are absurd; RUSSIA will respond from the standpoint of its own benefit. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov at a briefing.

“We must do what is best for us. it may not be a mirror reaction every time. Of course, such absolutely absurd decisions once again have a negative impact on our relations, which are already in a deplorable state,” Peskov said ( quoted by TASS ).

At the beginning of September, the European Commission published clarifications on the rules for applying sanctions that have been in effect since 2022. They stated that entry into the EU countries with personal cars registered in Russia would be considered a prohibited import , even if they are used for personal purposes and not for commercial purposes.

A representative of the European Commission clarified to RBC that the clarifications are not legally binding; each EU country will decide for itself how to implement the sanctions .
