to KaliningradEU goods from RUSSIA is a violation of "everything and everything"Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov

The restriction of transit to the Kaliningrad region, introduced by Lithuania, is an unprecedented and illegal step, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, TASS reports.

“The decision is truly unprecedented. This is a violation of everything and everyone. We understand that this is due to the relevant decision of the European Union to extend the sanctions to transit. We also consider this illegal,” he stressed.

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov announced that Lithuania had notified Kaliningrad about the termination of transit through its territory of trains with a number of goods that are subject to EU sanctions. According to him, the Lithuanian Railways refused to accept construction materials, cement, metals and a number of other materials important for construction and production for transportation. The decision came into effect from midnight on June 18.

The governor noted that this decision of Vilnius violates the protocols for the accession of the Baltic countries to the EU and the rules of free transit.

Senators warned Lithuania about a "tough response" due to the blockade of Kaliningrad Politics

Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation Andrei Klishas previously called Lithuania's decision an "attempt to blockade", he also noted that it could become the basis for retaliatory "tough" and "absolutely legal" actions on the part of Russia.

Senator Andrei Klimov, HEAD of the Federation Council commission for the protection of state sovereignty, agreed with him. According to him, this step can be regarded "as direct aggression against Russia." According to him, if the EU does not correct the current situation, this will "untie the hands" of Moscow, which will be able to solve the problem "by any means we choose."
