China imposed sanctions against Boeing's subsidiary for supplies to Taiwan

CHINA has imposed sanctions on Boeing Defense, Space & Security Group, the defense and space division of the American Boeing Co. This was reported by the press service of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. Beijing accuses the American company of selling weapons to Taiwan.

The agency also reports that two more American companies have been added to the list of unreliable companies:

• General Atomics Aeronautics Aeronautics Systems, which designs and manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles and RADAR systems for US military and commercial applications ;
• General Dynamics Land Systems, which produces military equipment such as tanks and light armored vehicles.

Sanctions against them were supposed to come into force on April 11.

These companies are prohibited from engaging in import and EXPORT activities related to China or making new investments in China. Also, the heads of these enterprises are prohibited from entering the country.

The US supplies weapons to Taiwan, but claims to be committed to the “one China” principle. President Joe Biden has repeatedly promised to defend Taipei in the event of a possible Beijing attack.
