Canada is imposing sanctions on four individuals and 29 organizations from RUSSIA associated with the military, nuclear, industry and finance. This was stated by Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, speaking via video link at the Ukrainian forum "Crimea Platform".
Those on the sanctions list are associated with the Russian military, industrial, financial and nuclear sectors, he said, without specifying who exactly the sanctions are being imposed. Trudeau added that the measures being taken are designed to convince Russia to leave the entire territory of Ukraine.
On the website of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where lists of sanctioned persons are usually published, the list has not yet been published.
Western countries began to tighten sanctions against Russia and introduce new restrictions from the end of February 2022 - after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine . Canada has since repeatedly announced new sanctions and tightened existing measures.
The last time Ottawa announced sanctions was on August 18, when restrictions were imposed against the Basmanny, Khamovnichesky courts and the Moscow City COURT. 15 citizens also fell under the sanctions, including the first deputy chairman of the Investigative Committee Eduard Kaburneev, deputy heads of the Investigative Committee Sergey Goryainov and Elena Leonenko, as well as judges of the Khamovniki Court and the Moscow City Court. The sanctions are related to the criminal prosecution of politicians Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized as a foreign agent) and Alexei Navalny .
Kara-Murza was sentenced by the Moscow City Court to 25 years on charges of treason, participation in the activities of an undesirable organization and fakes about the army. Navalny was sentenced by the same court to 19 years in prison in a case of extremism.
