Work on lifting the ban on the transit of goods to Kaliningrad is underway and can lead to the desired results. This was announced by the governor of the region Anton Alikhanov, RIA Novosti reports.
“Based on the information that we receive through various channels, from various sources, we understand that work is underway and there is a good chance that it will be completed the way the region needs and the way our country needs,” he said.
The governor believes that the European Union should adopt a new package of sanctions with exceptions for Kaliningrad or include them in the existing restrictions.
According to him, the EU may announce changes to transit on July 10, when it announces new sanctions. “If the announced deadlines that were mentioned before July 10 are not met, we will propose to the political leadership to take retaliatory measures,” he stressed.
