The Duma TV YouTube channel, which broadcast sessions of the lower house of parliament and published comments from State Duma deputies, was blocked in accordance with sanctions against RUSSIA, the GOOGLE press service reported.

“Google complies with all applicable sanctions and trade compliance laws. If we find that the account violates the terms of service, we will take appropriate action, ”TASS quoted the company as saying.

The State Duma channel was blocked on the morning of April 9. At that time, Duma TV had 145,000 subscribers, and the videos totaled more than 100 million views.

Roskomnadzor demanded that Google explain the reason for the blocking and restore access to the channel, accusing the company of "adhering to a pronounced anti-Russian position in the information war unleashed by the West." The RKN also called YouTube "a key platform for the dissemination of fakes" that discriminates against official Russian sources of information.

On March 24, the US Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions against State Duma deputies and the State Duma itself as an institution. The sanctions include a ban on entry into the United States, as well as a ban on transactions with those on the list.

In late February, Google banned Russian state media from advertising on its platforms, then blocked RT and Sputnik channels in Europe. And in March, YouTube blocked 54 Russian media channels. Among them are RBC , NTV, TNT, REN TV, Izvestia, Channel Five, Russian Radio, Tsargrad, Channel One, Russia 1, Culture, Zvezda, Russia 24, Sputnik, RIA Novosti. Before that, the Spas TV channel was blocked.

In April, Roskomnadzor demanded that Google stop restricting Russian media on YouTube. Prior to this, the department threatened Google with two administrative protocols under Art. 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. It provides for a fine of up to 8 million rubles. In the event of a repeated violation, the amount of the penalty may increase to 20% of annual revenue. The reason was YouTube's refusal to remove materials about Russia's military operation in Ukraine at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
