U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said she does not support President Joe Biden's administration's decision not to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. It is reported by the Washington Examiner. Granholm said her agency did not participate in consultations on restrictive measures against the project.

The minister stated that she opposed the completion of the pipeline. “One of the reasons I think this pipeline is very dangerous is because it transports the dirtiest form of natural gas on Earth,” she said.

According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, the issue of sanctions against Nord Stream 2 should have arisen earlier. “This is a good lesson. <...> We had to stop it before it was built," Granholm added.
