The head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry said that the EU will freeze the accounts

of Putin and Lavrov

The European Union will freeze the accounts of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Europe. This was announced by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg before a meeting of foreign ministers in Brussels, reports Reuters.

“There will be no travel ban for them to Europe, because we want to keep the possibility of negotiations in case the violence in Ukraine ends,” he said.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing two high-ranking officials, reported that EU diplomats approved a plan to impose sanctions against the Russian president and foreign minister and freeze their foreign accounts.

Information about the intention to impose such sanctions was also confirmed by the interlocutors of Forbes and France Press. The European Union may decide to freeze the accounts today, the Financial Times reported, citing four people familiar with the situation.
