The Chinese technology company Huawei Technologies has replaced more than 13,000 components in its products that were affected by US sanctions . This was stated by the head of the corporation Ren Zhengfei, reports REUTERS.
According to him, over the past three years, Huawei has been able to adapt to US restrictions and has redesigned about 4,000 printed circuit boards to create its products. The manufacturing process for the new boards has already "stabilized," Ren added.
Huawei, a major supplier of equipment used in 5G telecommunications networks, has been repeatedly subjected to US export controls since 2019.
According to Ren, in 2022, Huawei invested about $23.8 billion in research and development, and as profits increase, the company will continue to increase these costs. So, according to him, Huawei in 2022 created a unique “enterprise resource planning system” called MetaERP. it helps with core business functions, including finance, supply chain, and manufacturing operations.
In May 2019, the US Department of Commerce blacklisted Huawei, deeming the company's activities to be contrary to national security interests. US companies are prohibited from selling high-tech goods to Huawei and transferring technology to Huawei without obtaining a special export license from US authorities.
Sanctions have only gotten tougher over time: in August 2020, Huawei and its subsidiaries were banned from purchasing semiconductors without a special license, including chips made by foreign firms that were designed or manufactured using American software or technology. And in 2021, the Joe Biden administration expanded the restrictions by banning Huawei from selling its hardware in the US.
