German Henkel AG has an option to buy back its Russian enterprises within 10 years, CEO Carsten Knobel said, BLOOMBERG reports .

According to him, the German company will use this option only if relations with Russia improve significantly. A simple "cease of war or ceasefire" will not be enough, the businessman said.

Henkel produced in Russia cleaning and detergents under the brands Laska, Persil, Losk, Pemos, Pemolux, Vernel, etc., as well as adhesives Moment, Metilan, etc. In the country, Henkel had 11 factories: in Perm, Engels, Leningrad, Moscow and Ulyanovsk regions and the Stavropol Territory and 12 offices. In 2021, Henkel Rus' revenue amounted to 95.14 billion rubles, net profit - 7.48 billion rubles.

 

 

The deal to sell Russian assets was closed in early May - the Russian business of the company for 54 billion rubles. bought out by a consortium of investors, which includes Augment Investments, Kismet Capital Group and Elbrus Services.

Augment Investments is a structure of Viktor Kharitonin, the owner of Pharmstandard drug manufacturer, Kismet Capital is Ivan Tavrin's investment company, Elbrus Services is the company of Dmitry Kryukov, the founder of the Elbrus Capital investment fund.

After the start of the military operation in Ukraine , Henkel first reported that they would stop investing in Russia and placing ads in state media, and later announced their decision to leave the Russian market. The number of Russian employees was then estimated at 2.5 thousand people.
