The new package of sanctions against RUSSIA by the EU will include restrictions on €10 billion, said the HEAD of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen during a press conference after the Ukraine-EU summit, which was held in Kyiv.

“Russia and Russian society are already paying a high price due to the sanctions. The tenth package of sanctions is being prepared, we intend to introduce it before February 24th. Its volume will be about 10 billion euros,” said von der Leyen (cited by CNN).

She added that the sanctions would affect technologies used in the Russian military-industrial complex (MIC). In particular, the head of the EC explained, for this, drone components are being studied in order to prevent the supply of new elements necessary for them to Russia in the future.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at the same press conference that new European sanctions should be directed against Russia's military industry.

The day before, on February 2, the European Parliament by a majority vote adopted a resolution calling for "immediately adopting the tenth package of sanctions against Russia." The deputies indicated that it was necessary to introduce restrictions against Lukoil and Rosatom, as well as an embargo on imports of fossil fuels and uranium from Russia. In addition, they proposed refusing to receive gas through the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.

Whether these proposals will be included in the final package of sanctions is still unknown. Earlier, Bloomberg and REUTERS reported on other possible restrictions that may be included in the tenth package of sanctions.
