Member of the French Parliament and spokesman for the Rally National party, Laurent Jacobelli, appealed to the French authorities to lift sanctions against RUSSIA, Valeurs Actuelles magazine writes.

Jacobelli believes that the sanctions are hurting those who imposed them more because the ruble has been able to strengthen while the sanctions have weakened Western economies, he said. In particular, the deputy pointed out that the inhabitants of France are forced to overpay for energy.

According to the deputy, the lifting of sanctions is “a clear way to maintain peace” and protect Ukraine. The idea, he said, is to put diplomacy first.

In the 2022 French parliamentary elections, the Rally National party won 89 out of 579 seats.

Andrea Zomer, spokesman for the Center Democratic Union (UDC) party of the Swiss parliament, also criticized the sanctions against Russia in early August. The politician stated that the accession of Switzerland to the EU sanctions against Russia is contrary to its Constitution, since it violates the country's neutrality.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow made such a decision involuntarily in order to protect the local population from genocide.
