Finnish engineering company Metso Outotec left Russia

Finnish Metso Outotec, which develops technologies for processing raw materials, left RUSSIA. This was said in a statement.

Metso Outotec has not accepted new orders from Russia since the start of the military operation in Ukraine, has been negotiating with customers to curtail existing contracts and complied with all sanctions , the press release says.

On April 18, Rosatom reported that Metso Outotec refused to supply equipment for the floating mining and processing plant of the First Mining Company (PGRK) on Novaya Zemlya. Due to the refusal of the Finnish company and other suppliers to cooperate, the PGRK had to abandon the original plan. The plant will be built on the shore, not on a barge.

Metso Outotec develops technologies "that improve energy and raw material efficiency and water management." The company is engaged in the supply and installation of such equipment.

Sales from Russia accounted for about 10% of Metso Outotec's annual sales in 2021. The company has no production sites in the country.

In 2021, Nornickel signed a contract with Metso Outotec for the supply of process equipment. The agreement provided for the modernization of the Talnakh enrichment plant in Norilsk. The Finnish company was supposed to supply the equipment and provide advice on its installation and operation in 2022–2023.
