The EU will blacklist Sberbank of individuals and companies supporting Russia's actions in Ukraine, REUTERS reports with reference to the draft document.
An unnamed European official explained to the agency that blacklisting Sberbank would freeze its assets in the West and completely ban transactions, with the exception of financial transactions in food and fertilizer trade. In June, the EU disconnected Sberbank from SWIFT.
As the EU Observer clarifies, the Russkiy Mir Foundation, the Yunarmiya movement, shipping and weapons companies will also be blacklisted.
In total, 47 individuals and eight legal entities will fall under the new ban, the newspaper writes.
In addition, the EU intends to ban the direct or indirect import, purchase or transfer of Russian gold.
The EU agreed on another package of sanctions against RUSSIA Politics
At the same time, the European Union will introduce relief in terms of "freezing assets and a ban on the provision of funds and economic resources" to authorized banks in order to prevent problems with food supplies, the newspaper notes. The EU draft document states that Brussels "undertakes to avoid all measures that could lead to problems for food security around the world." The European Union has indicated that none of its sanctions will affect trade in agricultural products, food or fertilizers between Russia and third countries. The same applies to pharmaceutical products.
