The Council of the European Union has extended for six months personal sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian individuals and organizations for "undermining the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine," follows from a published EU statement.
“Today, the Council decided to extend the sanctions <...> for the next six months, until September 15, 2021,” the message says.
The sanctions include travel restrictions, an asset freeze and a ban on providing funds or other economic resources to blacklisted individuals and entities. "Sanctions will continue to apply to 177 individuals and 48 legal entities," the statement said.
“Finally turned on”: defendants and officials on the US sanctions list
Individual sanctions against individuals and legal entities whom Brussels considers responsible for undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine were introduced in March 2014. Restrictive measures include a ban on entry into the EU countries, as well as a freezing of assets in European countries. The last time the EU extended these sanctions for six months was last September. A month later, two individuals and four organizations for the construction of the Crimean bridge were added to the black list.
