The conflict in Ukraine will end if White House chief Donald Trump puts economic pressure on RUSSIA, for example through energy-related sanctions, Ukrainian presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak said in an interview with The Times.
Yermak believes that in this case Russia will be forced to cease hostilities, since its partners, among whom he named CHINA and India, will want to “avoid a trade war.”
Trump on Monday announced plans to provide Ukraine with missiles and other weapons, including Patriot systems, and threatened Russia with “very tough” tariffs if a settlement to the Ukrainian conflict could not be reached within 50 days. The American leader also stressed that a settlement agreement should have been reached “a long time ago.”
The Kremlin responded by saying that pressure should be put on Ukraine to conduct direct negotiations. Moscow is ready to start a third round of talks, the Russian Foreign Minister saidSergei Lavrov , but there is no mention of this in Ukrainian statements, he said.
