The diplomat predicted the actions of the United States in the "unification" of Ukraine and Russia

The United States will impose sanctions against RUSSIA if it annexes Ukraine. This was stated by former US Ambassador to Kyiv John Herbst, RIA Novosti reports.

“I believe that indeed Russian aggression is a threat and cannot be ignored. If that happens, I think the United States will impose very serious sanctions,” Herbst said.

He noted that the accession of Ukraine could destroy the Russian economy.

In May, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia had no plans to absorb other countries. “Russia does not plan to absorb anyone. I have never done this,” he said. Then the BLOOMBERG agency wrote that the European Union was afraid of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic joining Russia.
