CRPT announced the stocks of the drug for the thyroid gland with the demand "like buckwheat"

Residents of RUSSIA from March 1 to 14 purchased in pharmacies almost 3 million packs of drugs based on levothyroxine, which are used to treat thyroid diseases. In 2021, 12.6 million packs of this drug based on levothyroxine were sold. Thus, the demand for this drug for two weeks of March exceeded the three-month consumption rate, calculated the operator of the Chestny Znak labeling system of the Central Regional Development Center.

The system of mandatory digital labeling of medicines has been in force in Russia since 2020. According to Roszdravnadzor, currently 100% of medicines in civil circulation are labeled.

“Apparently, levothyroxine has become the “new buckwheat”. The Russians bought up a three-month norm in two weeks, and now we see that demand is declining. The fears of the patients were not justified, there are enough stocks in Russia. At the same time, thanks to the real-time digital labeling system, government agencies receive all the necessary information about the movement of medicines and redistribute them in a timely manner, thus preventing shortages,” said Revaz Yusupov, Deputy DIRECTOR General of the Center for Regional Development of the Patients.

According to Chestny Znak, as of March 23, almost 9 million packages of levothyroxine are in civilian circulation. These stocks will be enough for consumption at the level of 2021 for at least seven months, the CRPT indicated.

In early March, Muscovites began to report that they could not buy L-Thyroxine and Euthyrox medicines for the thyroid gland, Vedomosti wrote. Later, patients with rheumatic diseases pointed out the difficulty in purchasing the imported drug methotrexate, RBC was told in the Nadezhda Rheumatological Association.
