Cherkizovo responded to data on the pathogen COVID-19 on meat for China

Cherkizovo Group will conduct an internal investigation into the covid-19 pathogen in a shipment of goods shipped to CHINA , according to a statement posted on the company's website.

The company notes that the causative agent of the CORONAVIRUS was found on the packaging, and not in the poultry products sent to China, and is going to figure out at what stage of the “long logistical process” the virus got there.

“This could happen both at one of the warehouses of third parties, where products are delivered from different production sites, and during reloading between different modes of transport,” the company believes.

The causative agent of the virus was found in China in 13 batches of poultry MEAT from RUSSIA. Deliveries were made by three enterprises belonging to the Cherkizovo group of companies, the Chinese Customs Administration announced on February 3. The enterprises where these products were produced are located in the Bryansk, Voronezh and Kursk regions. Due to the coronavirus pathogen, Beijing suspended the acceptance of import declarations for their products for four weeks, meat from infected batches will be returned to the supplier or destroyed.
