Church of England appeals to Total over Russia

Two structures of the Church of England, which are shareholders of TOTALENERGIES, asked the HEAD of the company to make a decision as soon as possible to withdraw from all Russian projects.Otherwise, they will withdraw from the number of shareholders of the company.

The Church of England has asked the French energy company TotalEnergies to stop doing business in RUSSIA and investing in Russian companies. The letter to the head of the company, Patrick Pouyanne, was sent on behalf of the religious organization by two structures: the Pension Council and the Council of Church Commissioners.

The Board of Pensions is responsible for providing housing and pensions for retired priests, while the Board of Governors manages church property. The first structure has assets in the amount of £3.7 billion, the second manages an investment fund in the amount of £9.2 billion. Both structures are shareholders of Total.

The document speaks of "deep concern" about Total's decision not to completely curtail its presence in the Russian market and not withdraw from shares in Russian companies.

“We would like to emphasize the seriousness of our request and inform you that we will have to reflect on our status as shareholders of TotalEnergies if no further steps are taken,” the letter says.
