The UK has expanded sanctions against Russia by banning the supply of pound sterling banknotes and EU banknotes to the country. This was reported on the website of the British government.
"A ban on the EXPORT or use in Russia of banknotes denominated in pounds sterling or EU currencies," the statement said.
The ban also included the export of jet fuel and additives for it. It covers supply and delivery, provision and transfer (as well as related technical assistance, financial services, funds and brokerage).
It also banned "the import, purchase, supply of income-generating goods that originate in or depart from Russia."
Britain to ban imports of silver, caviar and wood products from Russia Politics
In March, the EU and the US banned the supply of their currencies to Russia. At the same time, the ban on the export of euro banknotes does not apply to cases where funds are needed for the personal use of citizens traveling to Russia, as well as for the needs of diplomatic missions and consulates.
Since the end of February, Britain has already introduced several packages of anti-Russian sanctions. In the spring, the United Kingdom banned the export of aviation and space products, quantum technologies, chemicals, plastics, and luxury goods to Russia. Britain also banned the import of Russian iron and steel, silver, caviar, and increased customs duties on imports of Russian platinum and palladium.
