Under the new EU sanctions against RUSSIA, individuals and the technology sector may fall, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said following the UN Security Council ministerial meeting on Ukraine.

“The [EU] Council is studying a new package of sanctions against individuals, I can’t name them right now, and is also studying the introduction of economic sanctions aimed at the technological part of our relations with Russia,” he said (quoted by TASS).

The day before, on September 22, Borrell had already indicated that “additional restrictive measures against Russia will be introduced immediately, as soon as possible in coordination” with EU partners.

At a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine the same day, Borrell noted that referendums (which the West will "never recognize") in the Donbass and other territories, partial mobilization in Russia, and threats to use nuclear weapons "endanger the world" and President Vladimir Putin " continues to escalate."

This year, the EU has already imposed six packages of sanctions against Russia. The latter was approved in July, it was "the sixth and a half", as it clarified the previous restrictions and brought them into line with the sanctions of other countries.

Immediately after the appearance of reports of referendums and partial mobilization in Russia, the European Commission reported that the countries of the union discussed joint responses to the "reckless" decisions of the Russian authorities on Ukraine. Details of possible restrictions were not reported.

Among the measures that are expected to be included in this package of restrictions are a ceiling on Russian oil prices , an expansion of the list of sanctions against Russian individuals, a ban on the import of Russian diamonds and other luxury goods.

President Vladimir Putin said that "Russia is confidently coping with external pressure, and in fact, one might say, with financial and technological aggression from some countries."
